Fam, one of the most powerfulest days of this millenium will be upon us in two days, August 8th 2008, otherwise refered to as 08.08.08. In Chinese numerology, the number "8" signifies power and good luck, and in triplicate, its like an unstoppable force of all good things, which I guarantee is why this day also marks the opening day for the 2008 Beijing Olympics games. To commemorate this momentous occassion, Nike has been rolling out all kinds of colorways and shoe make-ups that are inspired by, and in reference to the Olympics.
MENS DUNK HIGH SUPREME "080808" QUICKSTRIKES:
If you thought that womens AF1 High Quickstrike release from last week was bugged out hotness, then you're already losing your mind over these Dunk High Supreme jumpoffs! All solid color patent leather uppers with quilted toebox and side panels. Since the Olympic comittee holds the rights to the interlocking circle logo for the games, Nike had to go and reference the colorways of the rings, but incorporate octagons, which is kind of a nice, futuristic take on the classic logo, for the tongue tag. There is an all blue, all red, and all black shoe. The black shoe is like a irridescent fishing lure that looks like its different colors, depending on the angle you're looking at it and how the light is hitting it. MENS "MEDAL PACK" AIR MAX 1 PREMIUMS:
These three AM1 Premiums signify the medal standings (gold, silver and bronze), and yes, they are all winners in my book. Ok, that was the cheesiest thing I'll ever write. Sorry. And what's worse is I could have easily erased it, and you would not have to be subjected to reading such a weak line, but I didn't and you did, and now I have to show you how I can comeback from this misstep like the true champion I know I am deep, down inside of me. Ok, maybe its because I'm anticipating all the cliches we will be bombarded with the next couple of weeks in athlete spotlight stories of overcoming insurmountable odds and the like...I can't call it. These shoes are real sick and in the building as you read this. Stop by the shop or give us a call.
WOMENS/GS "OLYMPIC FOIL PACK":
A blazer low, AM90 and Dunk High all take metallic color cues from the Olympic colors. There is also a throwback eighties feel to these because of the metallic color blocking. When you're trying to put together a cute 'fit with any of these shoes, don't try and match ALL the colors, choose one or two and work from there-otherwise you'll look like a spilled bag of Skittles.
WOMENS "OLYMPIC PACK":
Every shoe in this pack for ladies is a certified banger! It's good to see the ladies get a super dope AM1 colorway. It's also good to see the details that went into the Vandal High: 1) multi colored thread quilting on the side and heel upper and toebox, 2) lace hole rivets with the Olympic ring colors, and 3) gold accents on the strap and Nike check.
